Auto Painter Helper
About The Position
Gerber Collision & Glass is seeking an Auto Body Refinish Prepper to prepare vehicles for quality refinish repairs and restore them to pre-accident condition. The role involves sanding, masking, priming, and otherwise preparing vehicles for refinishing in accordance with insurance guidelines and collision repair facility standards. Compensation is $15–$20 per hour on a flat-rate, performance-based structure tied to turned (booked) hours. If pay for a period falls below minimum wage, clocked hours are paid at least the applicable local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater. Compensation depends on skill, education, and experience; the position may also be eligible for bonuses tied to individual or business initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicle surfaces, including sanding and masking, and apply primer and top coats.
- Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, color coats, and clear coats.
- Restore anti-corrosion treatments and perform substrate identification, product mixing, and application.
- Evaluate bodywork to help ensure a quality paint job.
- Prepare vehicles for refinishing in accordance with insurance guidelines and facility standards.
