About The Position

This role is a mid-level Automotive Technician. This Technician may work independently or in a team environment. The technician is responsible for the efficient diagnosis, repair, and replacement of general automotive parts and accessories. They will conduct a wide variety of diagnoses and repairs, including but not limited to brakes, drivability, emissions, steering/suspension, electrical, state safety and emissions testing, maintenance services, HVAC, major engine and hydraulics. The role also involves direct interaction with customers, displaying exceptional interpersonal skills while driving service center’s performance with the highest integrity and trust. Additionally, this role may involve upfitting new vehicles with necessary equipment and performing light to major repairs, advanced vehicle diagnostics, and interfacing with vendors for parts and repairs. For specialized trucks, the technician will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems, generators, electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems. This role may also require using custom equipment for moderate design/fabrication tasks, including welding, and providing roadside assistance as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (or 3+ years of related work experience servicing vehicles instead of the degree).
  • 3+ years vehicle service and repair experience.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Must be able to clear a pre-employment drug test.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Nice To Haves

  • Continue training to maintain current A.S.E. status and to meet with technology and fleet changes as they occur.
  • Requires some A.S.E. Automotive or Truck Certification or other related certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Preventive Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
  • Based upon certification levels, performs various repairs and maintenance which may include: OBD II systems, brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, aerial lifts, electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, interior/exterior components, engine and drive line components, etc.
  • Maintains/repairs shop equipment.
  • Keeps shop area clean and tidy.
  • Perform work in accordance with safety standards.
  • Dispose of all fluids in a safe manner and in accordance with all regulations.
  • Creates and maintains vehicle history and maintenance records.
  • May up fit new vehicles with the necessary equipment.
  • Performs light to major repairs.
  • Performs advanced vehicle diagnostics.
  • Assures prompt repairs by interfacing and coordinating with vendors for parts and repairs.
  • Provides roadside assistance as needed.
  • Uses custom equipment when needed in order to complete moderate design/fabrication tasks including welding.
  • Assures maintenance of specialized trucks by troubleshooting and repairing complex hydraulic systems, generators and electrical systems, hybrids, and onboard computer systems.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
