About The Position

The Autism Support Professional provides residential support to people with Autism and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. The role includes overseeing residents, implementing Person Centered Residential Habilitation Plans, and providing training and support according to each person’s individualized program plan. The position is based in Valley Stream, New York, and is scheduled for 16 hours per week on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Scheduling flexibility is required, and the employee may need to work beyond the normal shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience assisting persons with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities and/or Autism.
• Ability to support people with Autism and people who may display challenging behaviors.
• Ability to successfully complete the medication administration (AMAP) course and annual recertification.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn how to document services electronically.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Scheduling flexibility; may be required to work beyond the normal shift.

Nice To Haves

• SCIP certification preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing oversight to people living in the residence.
• Implement Person Centered Residential Habilitation Plans.
• Provide training and support for each person in accordance with the individual personalized program plan.
• Drive agency vans and demonstrate safe driving practices.
