About The Position

This is a Permanent Part-Time position in Supported Living, serving adults over 18 years old with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role involves providing services that maximize the health, safety, and personal fulfillment of individuals diagnosed with ASD. The position requires flexibility due to an irregular schedule including days, evenings, weekends, overnights, holidays, and rotational shifts. The hourly pay rate varies depending on the shift type: $23.03 - $25.21 per hour for Autism Support Assistant, $22.03 - $24.12 per hour for Overnight Awake, and $20.50 per hour for Overnight Sleep, with additional pay for premium shifts as per the Collective Agreement. The position is affiliated with SEIU Local 1 and offers pay in lieu of benefits up to 5% added to each pay. Requirements

  • Completion of a Human Services Diploma from a recognized Community College or University or a Personal Support Worker certificate from a Community College or from a registered and Ministry approved Private Career College; OR Completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 1 year of related experience (preferably supporting people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder).
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Must have the ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Must have the ability to complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, as well as perform the required physical techniques. Training will be provided at no cost.
  • A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver’s Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points.

Responsibilities

  • Provide coaching and support in the areas of social skills, communication and leisure activities.
  • Provide solutions to barriers impacting achievement of quality of life, ensuring Personal Outcomes are met for each individual.
  • Administer medication as per procedure.
  • Follow Behavioral and Crisis Protocols as documented.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, supports and community members.
