About The Position

St. Mary's Medical Center is seeking a full-time Authorization Coordinator for Scott Ortho. The role uses electronic and manual systems to identify and capture source documentation needed for coding ordered procedures, injections, tests, and surgeries. The coordinator assists with prior authorizations and precertification for scheduled procedures, communicates any balances due to patients, and documents authorization details in the patient medical record according to approved protocols. The position also works directly with VA and Workers' Compensation case workers to obtain authorizations and claim numbers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Use electronic and manual systems to identify and capture source documentation needed for coding ordered procedures, injections, tests, and surgeries.
• Answer calls or inquiries from insurance carriers and other parties to assist with prior authorization for scheduled procedures.
• Perform precertification for scheduled procedures as necessary, including communicating any balances due to patients.
• Communicate and document procedure authorization details, including approved CPT code, diagnosis code, and date-of-service range, with the entity performing the procedure.
• Document authorization details in the patient medical record according to approved protocols.
• Work directly with VA and Workers' Compensation case workers to obtain authorizations and claim numbers for procedures, testing, injections, and surgery.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
