About The Position

This position supports aviation safety at Porter Airlines through focus on the effectiveness of safety critical processes. The role involves participating in the selection of audit projects, conducting audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety-critical functions, and participating in the evaluation of the safety critical processes of alliance partners. The Auditor will also be responsible for preparing audit plans, developing detailed reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and IATA operational safety standards, and maintaining the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systems. Additionally, the role serves as a Safety Ambassador and requires active participation in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS).

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Transport Canada requirements for quality assurance and the IATA operational safety audit program
  • Experience in the IOSA certification of a commercial air operator
  • Familiarity with commercial flight operations
  • A minimum of five years of experience as an aviation internal auditor
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills; keen attention to detail
  • Impartiality, integrity, tenacity, diplomacy and self-reliance are key attributes
  • Working knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Safety Risk Management (SRM) principles
  • Recent qualification as an Aviation Internal Auditor and/or acceptable combination of education, training and/or related work experience
  • Ability to secure and maintain restricted airport security clearance
  • Must maintain a valid passport; must be able to travel domestically and internationally when required on short notice

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the selection of audit projects based on corporate safety risk management objectives
  • Conduct audits to evaluate of the effectiveness of safety-critical functions within the operation
  • Participate in the evaluation of the safety critical processes of alliance partners that are relevant to Porter aircraft
  • Preparation of audit plans, checklists, sampling plans and other audit documentation related to assigned audits
  • Develop detailed and evidence-based reports on all assigned audits
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and IATA operational safety standards relevant to a commercial air operator
  • Maintain the confidentiality of organizational safety reporting systems and information acquired in the course of audit duties
  • Serve as a Safety Ambassador and resource for all employees
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including, reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understanding, complying with and promoting the Company Safety Policy and Non-Punitive Reporting Policy
  • Any other duties as assigned
