About The Position

The Department of the Auditor General (DAG) is seeking motivated individuals with a degree in accounting or finance to join their team as fiscal watchdogs. This position is eligible for student loan forgiveness and offers excellent health, savings, and retirement benefits, with the primary benefit being the opportunity to strengthen the community. The role involves ensuring municipal pension plans for police officers, paid firefighters, and non-uniformed employees are properly funded and comply with all laws and guidelines, supporting fair and accurate oversight of local pension programs. As an Auditor 1 in the Bureau of Municipal Pension Audits for the Northeast region, you will review municipal pension plans for legal and policy compliance, analyze financial records and documents related to pension administration, manage audit work papers and findings, apply relevant laws and auditing standards, and assess data for pension audits.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited college/university with an area of concentration in accounting, business, data analytics, finance, economics, math, or a closely related field; or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, business, data analytics, finance, economics, math, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in accounting, auditing, or a closely related field.
  • Possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review municipal pension plans to confirm they meet all legal and policy requirements

  • Locate and assess key data needed to complete pension audits
