About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join their team as an Auditor Supervisor with the Quality Assurance and Integrity Administration (QAIA). This position oversees a unit that performs federally required benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) and Benefit Timeliness and Quality (BTQ) audit work. The purpose of this position is to support the manager with planning, organizing and supervising the BAM and BTQ functions in order to establish and monitor programmatic activities within the administration. Travel will be required for State business. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on State business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on State business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance. Requirements

  • Managerial and leadership principles and practices sufficient to plan and direct the work of subordinates.
  • DES services and how programs across divisions are interrelated.
  • Interpretation and application of Federal and State laws, rules and regulations.
  • Management of multiple projects and / or tasks at the same time.
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting raw data and case information to implement solutions which would increase efficiency in the UI program.
  • Communicate orally and in writing at a high level.
  • Read, understand, and interpret complex issues, laws, rules, regulations and policies.
  • Evaluate staff performance and program compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • Maintain acceptable driving records.
  • Complete all required driver training.
  • Maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (if operating a personally owned vehicle on State business).

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of two years’ experience as a UI adjudication deputy.
  • Knowledge of the Department of Labor random audit procedures gained through on-the-job experience and Department of Labor training.
  • Previous experience in UI law, policies, and procedures.
  • Spanish/English proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and monitor the daily operations of Auditor 2's.
  • Conduct BTQ tripartite reviews and BAM case reviews (1st level) of completed audits.
  • Review the weekly case pull counts on the master workbook to ensure the unit is on track to meet the annual paid and denied sample requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with the Department of Labor selection criteria, and check and adjust scheduled work assignments based on workload, staffing levels, and staff availability.
  • Develop strategies for team building, motivation and recognition for the unit.
  • Develop performance plans, SMAART Goals, and monitor on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis staff’s performance results.
  • Assist with Federal reviews, discuss and incorporate DOL suggestions, and make necessary corrections to the BAM Method and Procedures, forms, and questionnaires, as applicable.
  • Assist the BAM Manager to develop, plan, and implement BTQ and BAM procedures, goals, objectives, timetables, and performance metrics.
  • Travel out of state at least twice a year to participate in BAM and BTQ Peer Reviews.
