About The Position

The Department of Human Services is actively recruiting for the position of Audit Specialist 1 for the Bureau of Financial Operations' Division of Audit and Review. This position focuses on audit work that supports the program needs of the Department of Human Services. You help evaluate information, review compliance, and prepare clear documentation.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by eighteen (18) credits in accounting, and auditing
  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee
  • Successful completion of the Commonwealth's Accounting Intern Program within the previous eighteen (18) months
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included the required eighteen (18) credits in accounting and auditing
  • Must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Potter, Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Wayne, Pike, Clinton, Lycoming, Sullivan, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Northumberland, Montour, Columbia, Luzerne, Carbon, Monroe, Schuylkill, Lehigh, or Northampton County by time of hire.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credit.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits or provide technical assistance as part of a team
  • Assemble, analyze, and interpret information for audit purposes
  • Prepare financial schedules and workpapers to support audit findings
  • Interpret regulations to check for compliance across assigned areas
  • Write clear reports and memos for varied audiences
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify high risk areas involving noncompliance, fraud, waste, or abuse
