The Audiology Tech assists with patients using appropriate techniques and procedures to perform minor hearing aid repairs, cleanings, and programming. They also send hearing aids out for difficult or extensive repairs and order new hearing aids for patients as directed by the audiologist. The role involves assisting the audiologist in direct patient care as needed, communicating with the audiologist and other healthcare team members, and documenting patient information. Additionally, the Audiology Tech performs occupational health hearing tests and counseling, and provides office support which may include scheduling appointments, preparing exam rooms, cleaning and stocking supplies, checking equipment, managing referrals and prior authorizations, and processing work queues. The position requires the ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the life span and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
