About The Position

The State Level Attorney is responsible for ensuring client success at the litigation level including preparation for and through trial. This role involves the review and approval of new claims, managing jurisdictional inventory, conducting document review and discovery, executing documents requiring an attorney's signature, communicating with clients and management, assisting with client audits, monitoring legal rules and regulations, conducting legal research and analysis, analyzing probable case outcomes, preparing and filing legal documents, managing and resolving collection litigation, working with Pro Se litigants and opposing counsel to settle files, overseeing outside counsel, and supporting corporate compliance with debt collection laws. The position is a direct hire role with a compensation range of $100k - $140k plus $2k/month in commissions. The role is remote within California and requires US work authorization.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited institution by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
  • Licensed to practice law.
  • Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven settlement skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Proficient in internet and online research.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, scanner, and computer.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details.
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it.
  • Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to represent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community.
  • US Citizen, Green Card, or authorized to work in the US.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in California.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approval of new claims within the Attorney's jurisdiction(s).
  • Meeting state level goals for consistent case movement.
  • Assisting with management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory under the direction of the Managing Attorney/Regional Attorney.
  • Exception and queue management.
  • Conduct document review and discovery.
  • Execute documents requiring Attorney's signature.
  • Communicate with Managing Attorney/Regional Attorney and clients to discuss case details.
  • Assist in responding to litigation specific components of all client audits.
  • Monitor relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law.
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems.
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
  • Prepare and file legal documents.
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation.
  • Work with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, or other interested parties to settle files throughout the litigation process.
  • Oversee and interact with outside collections and defense counsel.
  • Support corporate compliance with laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or Regional Attorney.
