About The Position

The Department of Children and Families, Office of General Counsel, is seeking an Attorney/Senior Attorney in Miami, FL. This position involves representing the Department in various legal proceedings, providing legal advice to departmental programs, reviewing administrative complaints, conducting legal research, and preparing legal documents. The role requires admission to the Florida Bar and a Law Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Department in state court proceedings, formal and informal hearings and administrative proceedings
  • Provide legal advice on the proper course of action to Departmental programs such as mental health, substance abuse licensing and adult protective services
  • Review administrative complaints for legal sufficientcy and compliance with state law and federal regulations
  • Conduct legal research, motion practice and discovery with the assistance of administrative support staff
  • Prepare complex legal documents and written legal opinions involving Florida law, statutes and administrative rules, consistent with agency policy
  • Other relevant duties as assigned
