About The Position

Stein Sperling is seeking a Family Law Attorney to join our busy Family Law Group. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an attorney to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division, while working closely with experienced attorneys and a diverse client base throughout the Washington Metropolitan area and beyond. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced practice, take responsibility for cases, and gain significant courtroom experience.

Requirements

  • Admission to practice law in Maryland is required
  • DC bar admission is a plus
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in family law litigation is preferred
  • Experience drafting motions, pleadings, discovery requests, financial statements, and other legal documents
  • Strong research, organizational, communication, and legal writing skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to handle sensitive and emotionally charged matters with professionalism and compassion
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines, client demands, and multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong time management, planning, and organizational skills to handle a busy caseload efficiently
  • Thorough knowledge of pertinent rules, statutes, and guidelines for Maryland and DC preferred
  • Prior courtroom experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drafting motions, pleadings, discovery requests, financial statements, and other legal documents
  • Conducting legal research
  • Reviewing and analyzing discovery
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Negotiating with opposing counsel
  • Representing clients in court hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions throughout Maryland and DC
  • Preparing for trial, including preparing exhibits and communicating with witnesses
  • Maintaining strong client relationships through regular communication and explaining legal processes
  • Managing multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent client service
