About The Position
The Georgia Public Defender Council’s Coweta Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office is hiring an Assistant Public Defender 1 for its Newnan, Georgia office. The attorney will provide competent, zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients with criminal cases in Superior Court. This is beginning-level professional legal work and may involve assisting with cases of routine complexity. The office provides in-house training and mentoring and covers State Bar dues. Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university.
- Be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, or be eligible to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination.
- If hired under the eligibility clause, pass the Georgia Bar examination and obtain a Georgia law license within one year of hiring, or qualify through reciprocity and obtain a law license.
- Meet the qualifications and possess the skills necessary to perform the job duties and responsibilities.
