About The Position
The Coweta Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office in Coweta County is seeking one Assistant Public Defender 1 to represent indigent individuals with criminal cases in the Juvenile Court of Coweta County. The position is based in the Newnan, Georgia office. The Assistant Public Defender 1 provides competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This is beginning-level professional legal work and may involve assisting with cases of routine complexity. The employee performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university.
- Current membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination, pass the exam, and obtain a Georgia law license within one year of hiring; reciprocity is also referenced, but a law license must be obtained.
- Superior organizational skills.
- Strong commitment to indigent defense.
Nice To Haves
- Two or more years of criminal defense experience; preference will be given to candidates with this experience.
