About The Position
The Georgia Public Defender Council’s Coweta Judicial Circuit Public Defender Office is hiring an Assistant Public Defender 1 for its Newnan, Georgia office. The role provides zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients with criminal cases in Superior Court. It involves beginning-level professional legal work and may include assisting with cases of routine complexity. The position performs other related duties as required. The office provides in-house training and mentoring and covers State Bar dues. Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university.
- Current membership in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination and, after passing, obtain Georgia licensure within one year of hiring; reciprocity is also accepted, but a law license must be obtained.
- Meet the qualifications and have the skills necessary to perform the job duties and responsibilities.
