About The Position

The Attendance Officer is responsible for enforcing attendance policies and ensuring student compliance with attendance regulations. This role involves investigating attendance issues, working with students and families to address barriers to attendance, and implementing strategies to improve student attendance rates. The Attendance Officer will collaborate with school staff, community resources, and other stakeholders to support student success and reduce truancy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of work history, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work a 9-month schedule, 8 hours per day.
  • Strong understanding of attendance laws and policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing.
  • Ability to conduct investigations and interviews effectively.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support services.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in school administration, social work, or a related field.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Enforce attendance policies and regulations.
  • Investigate student absences and truancy cases.
  • Conduct home visits and interviews with students and families.
  • Develop and implement attendance improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and teachers.
  • Liaise with community agencies and resources to support students and families.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and interventions.
  • Prepare reports on attendance trends and enforcement activities.
  • Provide guidance and support to students and families regarding attendance expectations.
  • Participate in professional development related to attendance and student support.
