About The Position

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of clerical duties related to attendance accounting and record-keeping in a school office. This role involves contacting parents and guardians to report and verify excused and unexcused absences, and operating a computer terminal to enter and update attendance data.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school
  • One year general clerical experience involving record-keeping.
  • Some positions in this class may be required to utilize oral and written communications abilities in a second designated language.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license.
  • Incumbents are required to operate personal vehicles and provide proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate reporting for daily attendance of students.
  • Process and verify student absence information from parents and teachers.
  • Issue various excuses to students for absence from class.
  • Issue admission slips for students returning to assure accurate absentee reporting.
  • Communicate with students and parents regarding attendance information to staff, parents and authorities as requested.
  • Receive phone calls from concerned parents.
  • Explain District policies and State regulations regarding school attendance and enrollment as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance.
  • Establish guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of records and files regarding students attendance, tardiness, truancy, suspension and discipline as assigned.
  • Operate a variety of office machines including a FAX, computer terminal, scanner, typewriter and copy/duplicating machines.
  • Assist students, staff and visitors at counter.
  • Take and relay messages to and from parents and students.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
