About The Position

Pike County Memorial Hospital is seeking a Part-Time Athletic Trainer to join our growing Rehabilitation Services team. This unique position provides the opportunity to work alongside our Physical Therapy Department, collaborate with our Orthopedic Surgeon, and serve local middle school and high school student-athletes through injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. This position is ideal for an energetic, community-focused professional who enjoys working with athletes of all ages while also expanding their clinical skills in an outpatient orthopedic setting. The Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services for area schools and athletic programs while also assisting with patient care in our Physical Therapy Department under the direction of licensed providers. This position works collaboratively with physicians, physical therapists, coaches, athletic directors, parents, and other healthcare professionals to promote safe participation in sports and facilitate recovery from injury.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Missouri.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends during athletic seasons.

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training coverage for local school athletic events and practices as assigned.
  • Evaluate athletic injuries and provide immediate care, emergency response, and injury management.
  • Develop and supervise rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
  • Assist with injury prevention education, conditioning, and wellness programs.
  • Work closely with our Orthopedic Surgeon regarding evaluation, treatment, and follow-up of orthopedic injuries.
  • Assist Physical Therapists with outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation and patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and medical records.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, coaches, physicians, and school personnel.
  • Promote sports medicine services throughout the community.
