About The Position

This position is for an Athletic Trainer at AHMG Rothman Orthopedics in Winter Haven. The Athletic Trainer will also be involved in clinical support, such as maintaining patient flow and conducting physical examinations. Requirements

Medical Office procedures and medical terminology [Required]
Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office [Required]
Bachelor's degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program [Required]
BOC (Board of Certification) passing exam score [Required]
2+ years of experience in orthopedics [Required]
Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) [Required]
Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

Responsibilities

Obtains pre-certification for prescription drugs.
Makes pre-operative calls to discuss discharge plans, obtain patient information, and answer questions.
Makes post-operative calls within two weeks of surgery, using clinical judgment to direct care based on shared information.
Previews charts pre-operatively, documenting pertinent information including surgical clearances.
Collates, distributes, and discusses post-op discharge instructions with patients and referring physicians.
Discusses patient care and necessary home equipment with homecare nurses and arranges medical supplies.
Assists medical assistants in maintaining patient flow and reviews physician schedules.
Performs patient intake and conducts physical examinations.
E-Prescribes, writes (with physician's signature), faxes, and/or phones in prescriptions per practice protocols.
Examines post-operative patients and performs wound checks for infections.
Assists physician at collegiate and professional sporting events and providing field coverage.
Assists during hospital rounds and liaises between physician and outside consulting physicians.
Other duties as assigned.
