About The Position

This position performs specialized duties in support of athletic programming. It involves planning, organizing, and overseeing adult recreational programs, conducting organizational meetings, creating rules and regulations, collecting fees, coordinating schedules and tournament brackets, and conducting hearings concerning rule violations. The role also includes registering teams with national organizations, ordering equipment and trophies, and updating the division website with league schedules, standings, and photos. Additionally, the specialist will train, assign, supervise, and direct athletic staff, monitor budgetary monies, ensure vendors and employees are paid, and serve as a liaison with volunteer youth sports organizations. The position also involves recruiting, organizing, and overseeing special events, scheduling and collecting fees for youth coach certification classes, and processing work order requests. Monitoring facilities use for participant safety and coordinating with the Muscogee County School District for sporting events are also key responsibilities. The role may perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles of athletic facility and program management
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of budgetary administration
  • Skill in problem solving and decision making
  • Skill in management and supervision
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment including work related computer applications
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
