About The Position

The Athletic Operations Specialist oversees the planning, development, coordination, and daily operations of a comprehensive sports program serving the Tribal community. This position provides leadership and supervision to support successful athletic programs and community engagement. The Specialist may not participate as a coach or team member in programs they supervise or receive compensation from. Additional duties may be assigned to support departmental goals and objectives. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four (4) years of related employment and/or volunteer experience in coaching or supporting organized adult or youth sports programs required, including experience with league operations, sports scheduling, program coordination, and food service operations.
  • One (1) year of supervisory or lead experience coordinating and directing the work of others required.
  • Must possess First Aid Certification, including CPR and Life Saving, or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of official date of hire in this position.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain during the first week of employment.
  • Must possess “ServSafe Certification” or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Must be available to work scheduled events.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take accountability, and follow policies.
  • Must be physically capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Dependable, motivated, and committed to completing assignments and achieving results.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Public Administration, Recreation Administration, Social Services, Physical or Health Education preferred.
  • Experience with performance feedback, disciplinary processes, leave approvals, timesheets, and other day-to-day personnel matters preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience working with sports officials is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and support youth and adult sports programs, leagues, and events.
  • Supervise and provide daily direction to athletic staff and support personnel.
  • Coordinate facility and field scheduling, setup, maintenance, and safety.
  • Oversee registrations, schedules, uniforms, equipment, budgets, and concessions.
  • Ensure quality customer service and safe, clean, and well-maintained recreation areas.
  • Coordinate with Recreation, Tribal departments, committees, and community partners.
  • Support staff training, performance, timesheets, and other personnel matters.
  • Attend meetings and events as required and perform other duties as assigned.
