Coordinates a comprehensive athletic program of the high school level. The minimum performance expectations include preparing the annual master athletic calendar, attending athletic events, coordinating and advising athletic coaches, and assisting the building administrator in screening coaching applications and interviewing candidates. This role also involves coordinating and participating in preparations for athletic activities, interpreting student eligibility, maintaining accounts, processing insurance forms, selecting and requisitioning equipment, preparing budgets, arranging special events, complying with school division policies, evaluating coaching staff, ensuring adherence to Virginia High School League rules, maintaining state licensure, and modeling non-discriminatory practices in all athletic programs. The Athletic Director also assumes and performs related duties as assigned by the school administration.
