About The Position

The Athletic Assistant, under direction, performs advanced administrative and operational work supporting external relations, recruiting, communications, and event operations for the assigned sport program. Serves as a primary liaison for alumni, donors, parents, and external stakeholders while assisting with recruiting coordination, game day operations, and departmental initiatives.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • External Relations, Alumni & Engagement: Leads coordination of donor, alumni, and parent engagement initiatives. Plans and executes alumni events, local meetups, and alumni weekend activities. Produces quarterly newsletters and assists with post-meet recaps and communications. Develops and manages a team mentorship program. Serves as liaison for freshman housing organizations and supports ongoing communication efforts with external stakeholders.
  • Media, Communications & Social Media: Oversees social media strategy and content creation in collaboration with 12th Man Creative and photography staff. Manages daily and weekly social media posting to enhance external engagement and program visibility. Assists with media relations and coordinates messaging aligned with departmental branding.
  • Recruiting (Men’s & Women’s Programs): Supports recruiting efforts for both men’s and women’s programs. Travels as directed by recruiting coordinators to conduct on-site recruiting (domestic and international). Maintains recruiting communication through calls and correspondence. Assists with official visit logistics and coordination of prospective student-athlete experiences.
  • Operations & Event Management: Assists the Director of Operations with administrative and operational tasks including meal coordination, CARA logs, and supply ordering. Plans and executes team events including the end-of-year awards banquet and senior day recognition. Leads game day operations for home meets, including coordination of officials, timers, and volunteers. Participates in year-round planning meetings with Rec Sports, Game Day, Marketing, and Graphics teams. Serves as day-of-event liaison for home competitions.
  • Compliance & Administration: Maintains knowledge of and ensures adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations. Assists with administrative duties as assigned, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with institutional policies.
