Tarleton State University is a Division I program committed to academic and athletic excellence. The Athletics Academic Coordinator supports student-athletes across multiple sport programs, including Football, and reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics. The position works closely with campus partners such as Compliance, the Assistant Registrar, Academic Advising, and other university offices as appropriate. Core responsibilities include maintaining accurate academic records and files, monitoring academic progress and NCAA eligibility in accordance with grade reports, and meeting with current and prospective student-athletes to review academic requirements. The Athletics Academic Coordinator provides academic mentoring and coordinates tutoring and study hall programs, requiring consistent and open communication with coaches and athletic department staff, along with a thorough understanding of NCAA, UAC, and University rules, guidelines, and regulations. The position also serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). The Athletics Academic Coordinator is expected to work a full-time schedule primarily during standard business hours; however, due to the nature of Division I athletics, this position requires flexibility. Evening and weekend hours are frequently necessary to support student-athletes through study halls, tutoring sessions, recruiting activities, team travel, competitions, and peak academic periods such as registration, midterms, and finals. Occasional travel may also be required.
