About The Position

This position plays a critical support role in delivering high-quality, hands-on instruction for the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program. The technician will support instructors and students in the Nondestructive Testing (NDT) lab, ensuring labs are safe, well-equipped, and ready for instruction in a fast-paced, accelerated training environment. This role requires eligibility to access controlled unclassified and other regulated technical information and is based onsite in Danville, Virginia.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Knowledge of shop safety practices
• Technical math skills, including trigonometry
• Working knowledge of NDT methods: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
• Radiation safety
• Microsoft Office and general computer skills
• Comfort using technology in an instructional or training environment and a willingness to learn new tools

Responsibilities

• Support NDT instructors during lab-based instruction for the ATDM program.
• Assist students in the lab with proper use of equipment, materials, and processes.
• Prepare labs for instruction, including setup and teardown.
• Maintain inventory of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Monitor and restock consumables as needed.
• Follow and reinforce shop safety and radiation safety practices.
• Provide general operational and logistical support for the ATDM program.
• Travel occasionally, as required.
• Lab instruction includes the following NDT methods: Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Visual & Optical Testing (VT).
