About The Position

Visiting Angels of Midland is hiring At Home Caregivers to serve clients throughout West Texas and the Permian Basin, including Odessa, Andrews, Midland, Big Spring, Monahans, Fort Stockton, and Stanton. Caregivers help improve clients’ quality of life and support their wellness in accordance with individualized care plans. The work includes personal care, companionship, household support, mobility assistance, meal preparation, medication reminders, and accompanying clients on errands and appointments. Advanced training opportunities in dementia care and Alzheimer’s care are available to caregivers who want to broaden their skills. Shift options include full time, part time, PRN, and short shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle for transporting clients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Training in First Aid and emergency response; training is provided if needed.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to handle multiple duties at once.
• Reliable transportation to and from client homes at scheduled care times.
• Physical endurance for tasks such as carrying groceries and physically supporting a client.
• Comfort performing housekeeping and cooking duties while following applicable dietary constraints.
• Willingness and ability to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards, including a background check.
• Compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten clients’ days.

Nice To Haves

• Interest in advanced training in dementia care or Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Assist clients with light physical exercise or walks.
• Plan and prepare meals with clients while observing applicable dietary constraints.
• Perform light housekeeping duties.
• Report changes in clients’ health or unusual incidents.
• Provide pleasant, supportive companionship.
• Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
• Accompany and supervise clients during shopping trips.
• Remind clients to take prescription medications appropriately.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation at home and during appointments or errands.
