About The Position

Visiting Angels’ Corsicana office is seeking compassionate caregivers to support senior adults and others in need in Corsicana and surrounding communities, including Ennis, Palestine, Fairfield, and Athens. The role provides companionship and assistance with daily activities, personal care, mobility, meal preparation, transportation, shopping, and light housekeeping. Caregivers may also have opportunities for advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

• Passion for serving others and a genuine caregiving disposition.
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
• Respectful and compassionate manner.
• Good time-management skills.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong ethics.
• Physical endurance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Background in home care or elderly care.
• History of community involvement.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home and outside, including for appointments and walks.
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Help clients with routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients when they are able.
• Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping.
• Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
• Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
• Report unusual incidents.
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
