About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach to join its nationally competitive intercollegiate athletics program. This role involves training the varsity women's basketball team, assisting in game plan development, and supervising staff. A significant portion of the role focuses on recruiting prospective student-athletes, including evaluating talent, corresponding with them, and coordinating visits. The position also requires monitoring the academic performance of student-athletes and ensuring compliance with all UCCS and NCAA regulations. Additionally, the assistant coach will help with scheduling the Division II season and coordinating team travel and lodging. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of women’s basketball training and coaching techniques.
  • Understanding of, or ability to learn, the NCAA forms and compliance requirements.
  • Must complete an Authorization to Release Information and provide contact information for previous institutions as part of a misconduct history check.

Responsibilities

  • Train varsity women’s basketball team for intercollegiate competition at a nationally competitive level.
  • Assist the head coach in developing and implementing game plans.
  • Maintain and increase knowledge of women’s basketball training and coaching techniques.
  • Supervise the training, development, and placement of staff personnel.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes.
  • Develop and maintain correspondence for prospective student-athletes.
  • Schedule, coordinate and supervise official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes.
  • Monitor academic performance of student-athletes.
  • Counsel student-athletes.
  • Ensure compliance with all UCCS and NCAA regulations regarding academic eligibility requirements.
  • Assist head coach with planning and coordinating Division II schedule within NCAA, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and institutional guidelines.
  • Assist head coach with planning and coordinating team travel and lodging.
