About The Position

The PVMHS Asst. Field Hockey Coach for Fall 2026 will be responsible for modeling the behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, particularly concerning sportsmanship. This role involves having full control over the team in all coaching and athletic discipline matters, implementing Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules, and staying informed about MIAA and Peabody Athletic Handbook requirements, including rule changes and trends affecting the sport. The coach must be present at all practices and contests, develop organized daily practice plans with proper warm-up and cool-down procedures, and model professional and healthy behaviors through appearance, manners, language, and conduct. Ensuring the safety of facilities and equipment, teaching and enforcing safety procedures, and implementing game plans are key responsibilities. The position also includes processing medical forms, parent consent forms, and eligibility reports, collaborating with community youth sports members, and directly supervising squad members at home and away contests, including those transported by school buses.

Requirements

  • High School Level Field Hockey and/or High School Level coaching experience required
  • First Aid/CPR required
  • MIAA/NFHS Coaches Certification required

Responsibilities

  • Model the behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially those pertaining to sportsmanship.
  • Have full control of the team in all matters pertaining to coaching and athletic discipline.
  • Implement Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules.
  • Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the Peabody Athletic Handbook.
  • Stay informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport.
  • Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached.
  • Develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures on a daily basis.
  • Models professional and healthy behaviors.
  • Leads by example in appearance, manners, language and conduct during practices/games.
  • Make sure that the facilities and equipment are safe and that safety procedures are taught and followed in all areas.
  • Perform all duties/responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletic.
  • Implement game plans and game management.
  • Process the medical forms, parent consent forms and eligibility reports.
  • Work with community members who are involved in youth sports.
  • Directly supervise squad members at home and away contests.
  • Supervise all team members that are transported by school buses.
