About The Position

The PVMHS Head Cheer Coach for Fall 2026 will model the behaviors outlined in the NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics, especially those pertaining to sportsmanship. This role involves full control of the team in all matters pertaining to coaching and athletic discipline, and the implementation of Peabody Athletic Department policies and team rules. The coach will be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook and the Peabody Athletic Handbook, staying informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport. The coach must be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached, and develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures on a daily basis. This position models professional and healthy behaviors, leading by example in appearance, manners, language, and conduct during practices/games. Ensuring the safety of facilities and equipment, and that safety procedures are taught and followed, is crucial. The coach will perform all duties/responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics, implement game plans and game management, and process medical forms, parent consent forms, and eligibility reports. Collaboration with community members involved in youth sports is also expected. The coach will directly supervise squad members at home and away contests and supervise all team members transported by school buses.

Requirements

High School Level Cheer and/or High School Level coaching experience required
First Aid/CPR required
MIAA/NFHS Coaches Certification required
