Wauwatosa School District – Assistant Director of Dining Services (WI) Schools: 17 | Enrollment: ~6,700 students Reports to: Director of Dining Services We are seeking an inspirational, kid‑focused Assistant Director of Dining Services to support operations across Wauwatosa School District in Wisconsin. In this highly visible role, you will assist in overseeing day‑to‑day food service operations across 17 schools, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, high‑quality meals that appeal to a diverse student population while maintaining the highest standards for consistency, presentation, food safety, and sanitation. You will help lead and support a team of approximately 50 frontline associates, focusing on talent development, operational excellence, and strong client relationships. Partnering closely with the Director, management team, and frontline staff, you will support menu planning and execution, drive financial and operational goals, and enhance the student dining experience while minimizing waste. This role offers exceptional work-life balance with a school-based schedule—no nights, weekends, or holidays (pending the needs of the business)—allowing you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining personal time.

Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of food service management experience.
  • Experience in management for food service operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Financial experience and business acumen skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree is preferred, not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Executive Chef and frontline team in creating nutritious and top quality food.
  • Implements new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with the client.
  • Manages, trains, and develops associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
