The Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL) oversees early child care, education and out-of-school-time programs for the State of Indiana. The vision of OECOSL is that every Indiana community will have a strong network of Early Care and Education and Out-of-School Time programs that support the child, the family and local schools. Programs will be high quality, affordable and accessible to enable families to work effectively to obtain economic self-sufficiency. Children will thrive in programs that meet their developmental and educational needs and make them feel welcome, encouraged and supported. Professionals teaching and caring for children will have the resources, including training and education, needed to operate and maintain high quality programs. This role, Assistant Director of Quality Programs, provides operational leadership for Indiana’s Quality Support Team, ensuring child care providers receive proactive, consistent, high-quality support that strengthens program quality, increases confidence, and improves outcomes for children and families. In this role, you will translate agency priorities into daily practice by leading Support Specialists, developing systems, coaching staff, analyzing provider feedback, and driving continuous improvement across statewide provider supports while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. In addition to leading statewide provider supports, this role also contributes to broader quality and infrastructure initiatives across early childhood education. Responsibilities include supporting Indiana’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) under the direction of the OECOSL Director of Quality Programs and partnering on agency-wide quality efforts. The Assistant Director works closely with the Director to coordinate daily operations, ensure compliance, monitor objectives, and provide comprehensive reports, maintaining alignment with state and federal requirements while advancing OECOSL’s strategic priorities. Some state travel is required.
