About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Campus Life, the Assistant Director of Intercultural Life oversees the coordination of student diversity programming for international student services and intercultural life offices. Contributing to the inclusive excellence goals of the College, the assistant director develops programs to support cultural awareness and serves as an advisor to cultural/affinity student organizations. This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month position with some evening, weekend, and holiday hours required. Position has a live-on campus requirement with participation in an on call capacity as a member of the duty team. Summary of the position: Coordinate inclusive student programming, advise cultural organizations, support cultural houses and international student initiatives, collaborate on campus-wide events and committees, and provide student support through emergency response and other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field, or if not a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree in a related field with experience in higher education will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with all related departments to create professional development and networking opportunities for historically underrepresented groups, first-generation students, and non-traditional students.
  • Advise cultural student organizations, offering guidance on program planning, membership, and officer transitions each term.
  • Provide programmatic support for cultural houses: ABLE, Harambee, Casa Latina,International House and Asian Cultural House.
  • Provides intercultural life student peer educators.
  • Assist with evening, weekend programming as needed, and on some holidays.
  • Co-Chair of the College Day of Dialogue Committee.
  • Assist with planning and facilitation of International Student Programs such as IPOP,workshops, seminars, and student check-ins.
  • Serve part of the campus-wide duty rotation; responds to after-hour student and/or college emergencies as needed.
  • Other duties and committee appointments as assigned.
