About The Position

The Headache Center, established in 2016 within the Department of Neurology, provides specialized care for patients experiencing headache and facial pain. The multidisciplinary clinic is staffed by a neurologist and an orofacial pain specialist. The center offers a robust procedure clinic for treatments such as occipital nerve blocks, trigger point injections, and Botulinum toxin injections. Additionally, ocular ultrasounds are available for patients with intracranial hypertension to monitor optic nerve sheath diameter. The appointee will contribute to the University's missions in teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service, with a demonstrated competence in patient care and teaching/mentorship. The ideal candidate will also possess an interest or experience in research/scholarship/discovery and/or administrative leadership.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in medicine & residency training in Neurology.
  • Demonstrated competence in patient care & teaching.
  • Current unlimited Oregon MD/DO (or equivalent) license prior to start.
  • Registered with Federal Drug Administration and be authorized to prescribe medications.
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification in Neurology is required.
  • UCNS certified Headache Fellowship completion.
  • Compliance with code of conduct, respect in the workplace, and applicable law, policies, procedures, positions certifying agencies and agreements.
  • All duties and responsibilities of the Neurology provider conform to the credentialing process, OHSU Hospital Medical Staff and University Medical Group (UMG) guidelines.
  • This position requires undivided effort at the specified FTE level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the University's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
  • Teach trainees and support staff in their area of professional expertise through assigned lectures and by modeling best practices, mentoring trainees, and delegating graduated levels of responsibility.
  • Provide an outstanding level of professional performance, including quality of clinical care, in a manner compliant with all relevant regulating bodies.
  • Treat all patients, research subjects, trainees, and co-workers with dignity and respect.
  • May maintain a program of scholarly research activity directed toward improved understanding of the causes, detection, and treatment of diseases.
  • May develop and direct scholarly research activities focused toward improving the educational foundation within Neurology.
  • May engage in public service through consultative activities with OHSU and non-University groups as approved by the Chair.
  • May participate in additional departmental or hospital administration as approved by the Chair.
