About The Position

This position will be working in Dr. Darryl Dickerson's lab with a research focuses on the development and characterization of next-generation engineered human cardiac microtissues for applications in disease modeling, mechanobiology, and therapeutic screening. The project integrates biomaterials engineering, human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived cardiomyocyte culture, advanced tissue fabrication, biomechanical characterization, and functional assessment to develop physiologically relevant in vitro cardiac models. Additional efforts include optimization of biomaterial scaffolds, tissue maturation strategies, and quantitative analysis of cardiac tissue function. The candidate will support my research group by leading experimental efforts related to hiPSC-derived cardiac tissue fabrication, cell culture and differentiation, hydrogel and biomaterial preparation, tissue characterization, and functional analysis. The candidate will also assist with experimental design, protocol development, data analysis, mentoring junior researchers, and dissemination of research findings through publications and conference presentations.
