About The Position

The Associate reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers. This non-management position performs cashiering, stocking, cleaning, monitoring perishables, and other duties as assigned. The Associate provides excellent customer service and helps maintain safe, clean, and well-stocked store conditions, following Leevers Supermarkets policies and procedures. The position has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities and no authority to make decisions about hiring, firing, demotions, promotions, or other tangible employment actions. The role requires working scheduled shifts and may involve working in other store areas with little or no advance notice. Work takes place in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, delivery trucks, and inside and outside the store in all weather conditions. Physical duties include repeatedly handling objects weighing 20–50 pounds, with occasional product weights of 50–80 pounds, and standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and other movements for extended periods.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old, or 15 with a parent letter and school authorization letter.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and basic computer skills are required.
Must be dependable and flexible to work scheduled shifts, including willingness to work in other store areas as needed with little or no advance notice.
Must adhere to safety standards.
Must be able to understand situations quickly, figure things out, and resolve issues.
Must have a positive attitude toward work, accomplish goals using methods demonstrated by store managers, and satisfy customers.
Must respect and work well with managers, coworkers, and customers; share information and be willing to teach others.
Must follow rules and policies and be willing to learn new things.
Must be able to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport objects weighing 20–50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift; product may sometimes weigh 50–80 pounds.
Must be able to stand, walk, or move about for extended periods.
Must be able to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods.
Must be able to work regularly in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, delivery trucks, and inside and outside the store in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Spanish or other language proficiency is a plus in certain locations.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain schedule adherence and punctuality.
Operate the cash register efficiently and meet checkout performance standards; accurately handle cash, EBT, debit and credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, and coupons in accordance with checkout and cash-handling policies.
Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products in accordance with company standards.
Assist with unloading delivery trucks and stocking products on platforms, shelves, peg hooks, in baskets, or in refrigerated cases; use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools after proper training.
Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment; complete assigned cleaning duties in areas including floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, and parking lots.
Provide friendly and courteous customer service.
Assist store management in training other store employees.
Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
Display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce properly.
Assist Fresh Meat personnel as needed, including wrapping packages, weighing and tagging products with scales, and stocking meat packages.
Perform other assigned duties, including working in other areas of the store.
