Requirements

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD) or equivalent is required.
Active State license in good standing, DEA license and other state credentials as required.
5+ years’ experience in general medicine and surgery.
1 - 3 years of leadership experience.
Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment.
Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.
Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
Frequently lift up to 50 to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
Occasionally lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
Ability to stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.

Nice To Haves

2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as a leader of the practice’s veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants, setting a high standard for proficient veterinary medical care.
Embody the Chewy Vet Care culture to foster collaboration and deliver an outstanding pet parent experience.
Hold team members accountable for results by being available, removing obstacles, facilitating change, and providing mentorship and feedback.
Implement outlined policies and procedures, utilize integrated technology, and deliver consistent and appropriate medical care.
Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
Perform sophisticated surgeries and manage complicated cases.
Explain examination findings, communicate diagnoses to clients, and develop and present treatment plans.
Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and ensure all logs are up-to-date.
Assist colleagues with patient follow-up and future management.
Stay current with new medical information and advancements in veterinary medicine by attending continuing education meetings.
Lead, manage, develop, and mentor Associate Veterinarians to improve client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
Assist in developing the paraprofessional team to ensure high-quality care and outstanding client service.
Oversee operating, safety, and compliance procedures as required by law and Chewy Vet Care policies.
Potentially travel for position requirements.
