Requirements

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD) or equivalent is required.
  • Active State license in good standing, DEA license and other state credentials as required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in general medicine and surgery.
  • 1 - 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment.
  • Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.
  • Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
  • Occasionally lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
  • Ability to stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader of the practice’s veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants, setting a high standard for proficient veterinary medical care.
  • Embody the Chewy Vet Care culture to foster collaboration and deliver an outstanding pet parent experience.
  • Hold team members accountable for results by being available, removing obstacles, facilitating change, and providing mentorship and feedback.
  • Implement outlined policies and procedures, utilize integrated technology, and deliver consistent and appropriate medical care.
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
  • Perform sophisticated surgeries and manage complicated cases.
  • Explain examination findings, communicate diagnoses to clients, and develop and present treatment plans.
  • Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and ensure all logs are up-to-date.
  • Assist colleagues with patient follow-up and future management.
  • Stay current with new medical information and advancements in veterinary medicine by attending continuing education meetings.
  • Lead, manage, develop, and mentor Associate Veterinarians to improve client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
  • Assist in developing the paraprofessional team to ensure high-quality care and outstanding client service.
  • Oversee operating, safety, and compliance procedures as required by law and Chewy Vet Care policies.
  • Potentially travel for position requirements.
