About The Position

Oakview Veterinary Hospital, a general practice clinic serving Miami and Shelby counties and the surrounding Dayton area for over 40 years, is seeking an Associate Veterinarian. We treat small animals, exotics, and pocket pets. Our philosophy is to treat your pets as if they were our own. We are a 2 DVM clinic with dedicated support staff, offering rotating Saturdays and closed on Sundays. New graduate mentorship is available. We are offering up to a $70,000 sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, student loan assistance, and ownership options. Our services include routine care, surgery, ultrasound, digital X-ray, cold laser therapy, dental care, and more. Piqua, OH, offers a small-city feel with cultural amenities and access to outdoor activities.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
  • Active veterinary state license.
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around animals.
  • Mental capacity and processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform required duties while working.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience preferred but new graduates seeking mentorship are encouraged to apply.
  • Current DEA License preferred but not required.
  • USDA Accreditation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in general medicine, surgery, and dentistry.
  • Provide routine care, surgery, ultrasound, digital X-ray, cold laser therapy, and dental care.
  • Work with small animals, exotics, and pocket pets.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated support staff.
  • Potentially work more than 40 hours per week to complete essential duties.
  • Work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays as required.
