About The Position

Oakview Veterinary Hospital is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their team. This is a general practice that sees small animals, exotics, and pocket pets. The clinic has two veterinarians and dedicated support staff. They offer new grad mentorship and future ownership opportunities. The practice is located in Piqua, OH, a small city with a hometown feel that offers cultural amenities and access to the outdoors.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
  • Active veterinary state license
  • Proficient in general medicine, surgery and dentistry
  • Ability to sit or stand and work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Ability to be confident around animals (i.e., dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.)
  • Mental capacity and processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
  • Sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform required duties while working.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • USDA Accreditation preferred but not required
  • Candidate to confirm species treated with practice leadership for additional clarity.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in general medicine, surgery and dentistry
  • Provide routine care, surgery, ultrasound, digital x-ray, cold laser therapy, dental care, and more.
  • Work at a computer for long periods of time.
  • Be confident around animals.
  • Complete essential duties of the job, which may occasionally require more than 40 hours per week.
  • Perform duties proficiently, requiring mental capacity for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability.
  • Work in a moderately high noise level environment.
  • Perform required duties while working, requiring sufficient ambulatory skills.
  • Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
  • Manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
  • Utilize good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate other equipment.
  • Utilize specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Routine exposure to a variety of animals that may bite, kick or scratch.
  • Occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological or zoonotic hazards and/or medication/controlled substances.
