Data breaches threaten the security of financial, customer, employee and other proprietary data, and, at any time, a cyber-attack can disrupt a company’s operations. We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join an established underwriting team in a rapidly growing and dynamic segment. The individual will be responsible for servicing a renewal book and producing new business through exceptional underwriting practices for the east region.

Requirements

  • Some underwriting or underwriting support experience, preferably within the Cyber and Technology insurance space.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to perform accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Robust collaborative skills in a fast-paced team-centric environment.
  • Robust interpersonal, presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate critical thinking, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to travel a minimum of 10% of the time is anticipated.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Continuing education or professional designations in insurance underwriting and information privacy including Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU), Certified Information Privacy Professional and Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance relationships with assigned brokers and clients to identify and establish new distribution relationships.
  • Collaborate across business units and functions to leverage existing resources to underwrite, manage and service a cyber and technology renewal book and produce new business in accordance with the Cyber underwriting unit goals.
  • Exercise discretion and self-supported judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk.
  • Participate in roundtable discussions on risk assessment.
  • Negotiate with producers within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards to achieve profit objectives.
  • Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities and target markets to more effectively enable clients to uncover hidden cyber risks.
  • Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
