About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Associate Technical Director with a strong data engineering background to lead the design and delivery of modern data solutions across a diverse portfolio of client engagements. In this role, you will define data architecture strategies, earn client trust through deep technical expertise and a consultative approach, and drive successful outcomes on complex, data-intensive projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing and delivering data engineering solutions, with deep, practical knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and building robust ETL/ELT pipelines at scale.
  • 8+ years of leadership experience in technical teams. You define, inspire, and drive the execution of architectural visions across multiple projects.
  • A deep understanding of various technologies, programming languages, frameworks, and architecture patterns is essential.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure (Data Lake, Data Factory, Synapse or equivalent). Ability to evaluate and recommend the right tooling for each client's needs.
  • Strong experience designing, building, and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines — including data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and quality frameworks.
  • Proven ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable data architectures (e.g. lakehouse, medallion architecture, data mesh concepts) that align with both technical requirements and business goals.
  • Ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable architectures that align with business goals and technical requirements.
  • Managing projects effectively, including scope, timelines, and resources, is essential for successful solution delivery.
  • Understanding client needs, industry dynamics, and business processes is essential for providing tailored solutions that drive value and meet specific client objectives.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently and legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • You're a force multiplier. You’re interested in client engagements and all subsequent project discussions. You want to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present a unified and strategic vision for every initiative.
  • You’re using tomorrow's best practices. You stay informed about the latest technology trends and industry standards. You also understand that the best architectural solution is the one that aligns with business objectives and user needs.
  • You’re competent to the core. You grasp the foundational principles of system architecture—from scalability to security to performance optimization and beyond.
  • You are persuasive with clients. Your presentations are compelling, insightful, and impactful. More importantly, you listen actively. It’s how you always know the right questions to ask and the solutions to propose.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable, cloud-native data architectures using platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, and Azure Data Lake. Translate complex business requirements into clear, well-reasoned solution designs that clients can trust and teams can execute.
  • Provide end-to-end technical leadership across data engineering engagements, from ETL pipeline design and data modelling through to production delivery — managing scope, risks, and timelines to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Lead technically-focused initial engagements such as data architecture assessments, POCs, and pipeline audits. Use sharp, consultative questioning to uncover the real problem before proposing the right solution.
  • Provide oversight and strategic direction across a portfolio of client data projects, ensuring architectural consistency, quality, and alignment with business objectives.
