About The Position

The Associate, Corporate Strategy & Development is a key contributor to ECRI’s strategic agenda, working in close partnership with the Executive Director of Transformation and Innovation to advance ECRI’s mission to reduce preventable harm and promote safe and effective care for all. The TI team focuses on identifying prospective client needs in new spaces and markets where ECRI can develop and provide solutions, and this role is central to driving that work forward — independently leading rigorous analysis, owning discrete workstreams end-to-end, and translating findings into actionable recommendations that shape organizational direction. This role owns a wide range of strategic activities — including long-range planning, market and competitive intelligence, business development, corporate development, and cross-organizational initiative execution — and is expected to build and apply deep expertise in ECRI’s business segments, target markets, and unique competencies. This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership, designed for a quantitatively rigorous, self-directed professional who produces independently, structures complex problems with analytical precision, and translates financial and market intelligence into clear, executive-ready insights that drive organizational decisions. The right candidate gets their work in front of people early, uses what they learn to move faster, and brings clarity to what needs to be done without being told to. They own their work from start to finish — tracking their own progress, and flagging problems the same day they surface along with a suggested way forward. They build relationships across the organization, bring in the right voices early, and see collaboration as a way to produce better work, not just check a box. They know when a decision needs to go up the chain and when to make a reasonable call and keep moving. The person who succeeds here doesn't wait for things to settle — they drive toward outcomes and keep the team informed along the way. Performance will be measured by how quickly you produce results, the quality of what you deliver, and how well you manage yourself in a fast-moving environment.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of professional experience in investment banking, management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, transaction advisory, strategic planning, or a related analytical field.
• Prior experience in a coverage or deal execution role with exposure to financial analysis, due diligence, or M&A support is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience independently leading cross-functional strategic initiatives, organizational transformation efforts, operational improvement projects, or growth-focused business initiatives — with accountability for outputs, not just execution support.
• Experience developing executive-level presentations, facilitating stakeholder discussions, and communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences.
• Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills, including proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis; ability to synthesize large volumes of market, financial, and organizational information into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
• Sound financial and business acumen with the ability to construct, structure, and communicate compelling business cases, transaction rationales, and investment theses to senior decision-makers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-level presentations and written deliverables for a wide range of audiences.
• Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Bachelor's Degree required; degree in business, public health, health administration, economics, life sciences, or a related field preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with particular strength in PowerPoint (executive presentations and pitchbook-style materials) and Excel (financial modeling, scenario analysis, and data-driven analysis).
• Experience with Smartsheet or similar project management and work tracking platforms preferred.
• Familiarity with CRM platforms, particularly HubSpot, preferred.
• Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Tableau) preferred.
• Experience with market research platforms (e.g., Definitive Healthcare, PitchBook, KLAS, CB Insights) is a strong plus.
• Coursework or certification in strategy, healthcare management, data analytics, or project management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner actively with team members and cross-functional colleagues across ECRI's business lines — including consulting, product development, marketing, government affairs, and the enterprise PMO — to support the execution of new initiatives from concept through delivery.
• Collaborate with process owners, project leads, and stakeholders to ensure initiative workstreams are clearly scoped, milestones are tracked, and deliverables are met on time and to standard.
• Responsible for growing measurable outcomes; contribute to the definition, tracking, and reporting of KPIs for active initiatives and strategic priorities.
• Connect current initiatives to broader organizational strategy, always considering market trends, prospective client needs, and ECRI's mission to advance evidence-based, safe healthcare.
• Support the advancement of new business opportunities by conducting targeted research and analysis to help move prospective clients from awareness to assurance through ECRI’s consultative services.
• Contribute to healthcare providers, payers, policymakers, and other stakeholders — development of drafts and support leadership review and refinement.
• Manage the preparation of responses to RFPs, thought leadership materials, and strategic briefings with relevant market and competitive context.
• Develop and maintain ECRI’s multi-year strategic roadmap — owning milestone tracking, dependency mapping, and progress reporting against organizational priorities.
• Contribute to the preparation of strategic planning materials for executive leadership and board-level audiences — researching, structuring, and producing presentations, briefings, and supporting analyses under the direction of senior team members.
• Advanced level of development of focused strategy roadmaps (e.g., international expansion, infection prevention and control, health equity) — synthesizing research, stakeholder inputs, and market context to support coherent strategic narratives for leadership consideration.
• Monitor macro-level trends across the U.S. and global healthcare landscape — including regulatory, technological, reimbursement, and workforce trends — to inform planning processes.
• Support key components of annual strategic planning cycles — facilitating data gathering, coordinating stakeholder inputs, and synthesizing findings into actionable outputs for executive decision-making.
• Independently conduct ongoing market research and analysis across ECRI’s key segments — including health systems, ambulatory care, care at home, payers, government agencies, and life sciences — developing findings and actionable conclusions without requiring direction on scope or methodology.
• Develop and maintain competitive intelligence profiles for peer and competitor organizations, tracking service offerings, positioning, partnerships, financial performance, and strategic shifts.
• Curate and synthesize data from analyst reports (e.g., KLAS, Gartner, Forrester, CB Insights), earnings calls, trade publications, and primary sources to build an accurate, current picture of the healthcare safety and technology market.
• Track emerging technologies relevant to ECRI's mission areas — including AI/ML in clinical decision support, health IT safety, patient safety platforms, and medical device innovation — and assess their implications for ECRI's positioning and service portfolio.
• Produce regular market intelligence briefings, sector coverage updates, and performance dashboards for leadership and internal teams — delivering the depth and rigor of analyst-grade research that directly supports strategy, business development, and corporate development decisions.
• Support and execute due diligence activities, including transaction screening, organizational research, market positioning analysis, financial profiling, and capability mapping of potential targets — synthesizing findings into structured deal memoranda and analytical outputs that enable timely, data-driven leadership decisions.
• Build analytical frameworks and financial models to assess the strategic fit, market opportunity, comparable organizational benchmarks, and risk profile of business development opportunities — applying rigorous quantitative analysis to support investment-grade decision-making.
• Develop compelling business cases and transaction rationale documents that support executive decision-making on new opportunities — synthesizing market analysis, financial framing, and strategic narrative into executive-ready materials (including pitchbooks and deal briefs) in coordination with senior leadership, with clear linkage to ECRI’s strategic priorities.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders — including Consulting, Legal, Finance, and Product teams — to gather inputs and build out recommendation materials.
• Maintain a pipeline of business development prospects and track progress across active opportunities using CRM and project management tools.
