About The Position

The Strategic Communications Associate helps advance the Build the Shared Future initiative by producing communications content, coordinating with outside partners, and keeping the initiatives many workstreams organized and moving forward. Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Strategic Communications, this role supports both the Climate Narrative workstream and broader Build the Shared Future engagement, translating complex programmatic work into clear, compelling content for internal and external audiences. The Associate applies developing communications expertise with growing independence, exercising judgment on day-to-day tasks while escalating complex or unprecedented issues to senior colleagues. This is a nine-month fixed term assignment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to learn quickly and produce polished, high-quality work in a disciplined way.
  • Minimum of 3 years supporting fast-paced, strategic projects in a relevant setting, such as strategy units in companies, governments, or large nonprofits; project-based professional services firms; or high-growth start-ups.
  • Experience in the philanthropic sector, grantmaking, or partnerships.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, along with Salesforce or comparable CRM software.

  • Experience working at the innovative frontier of a field connected to economic development, community development, social impact, innovation, or social networks is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops content and communications products — talking points, press releases, and briefing documents — that support internal and external engagement for the Build the Shared Future initiative.
  • Supports the Climate Narrative workstream by liaising with the lead grantee and program lead to organize convenings, produce reports, and coordinate with media and digital teams on the release of new research or polling.
  • Manages the drafting and editing of core communications materials — op-eds, press releases, talking points, blog posts, articles, and white papers — in partnership with outside communications firms and consultants.
  • Writes and delivers original enterprise pieces that tell the story of Build the Shared Future’s progress and impact.
  • Partners with the digital team to develop and publish content across various channels.
  • Tracks progress across each core workstream by joining weekly calls, capturing action items, and maintaining a shared calendar of Build the Shared Future activities.
  • Monitors external news and public sentiment to inform communications strategy and surface emerging opportunities or risks.
  • Coordinates event logistics for Build the Shared Future by tracking incoming invitations, working with internal colleagues to secure timely decisions, and ensuring event-related tasks stay on track.
