Equal Rights Advocates (ERA), a national nonprofit fighting for gender justice, is seeking two Strategic Communications Interns for the Spring 2027 semester. The internship runs approximately 15 weeks, from mid-January through early May, and requires at least 15 hours per week. It is unpaid, with monthly reimbursement for cell phone expenses. The role may be fully remote anywhere in the United States; preference will be given to candidates able to work in person or on a hybrid schedule in San Francisco. Interns will learn from, shadow, and collaborate with ERA’s Strategic Communications Team. Learning opportunities and project assignments will be based on the intern’s strengths and interests as well as team needs. Potential areas include social media and written content creation, video production and editing, graphic design, digital marketing trends, communications data collection and analysis, campaign strategy, event support, drafting copy for digital and marketing platforms, and community storytelling. ERA’s internship program is intended to help creative, social-justice-minded, and social-media-savvy college and graduate students build knowledge and experience for careers in nonprofit communications, digital marketing, social media, and content creation. Preference is given to undergraduates pursuing nonprofit work, public policy, or public service and studying a related field. Applicants who are not pursuing an undergraduate degree may also be considered if they are at least 18 and strongly interested in a nonprofit communications career. Interns can gain experience across professional communications functions, develop skills and portfolio materials, work independently and collaboratively, build professional connections, and practice social media and digital marketing data analysis. ERA is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
