The Associate Software Engineer applies computer science, engineering, mathematical analysis, digital signal processing, and communication systems concepts to develop software for embedded applications, including real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment. The role works with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and evaluate hardware-software interfaces, operational performance requirements, and overall system designs. The engineer supports and participates in software and firmware development throughout the lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and testing, in some cases within an agile environment. Responsibilities also include creating test procedures, software programs, and documentation; using modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data and conduct experimental tests; and participating in peer reviews and defect tracking and repair. The work uses a range of programming languages, platforms, and embedded real-time operating systems. DSP-related work involves time- and frequency-domain analysis, filter structures, and modulation and coding algorithms.
