About The Position

The Obesity, Muscle and Metabolism group is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to support the development of therapeutics for muscle diseases, including muscular dystrophies, myopathies, and myositis. The role is part of a productive, collaborative team and offers the opportunity to contribute to tissue engineering and disease-modeling research as part of discovery efforts.

This is a lab-focused position for a bench scientist with a foundation in cell biology and physiology and experience in cell culture and tissue engineering. The Associate Scientist will develop assays to validate molecular and functional readouts for therapeutic programs and collaborate closely with teams across the organization.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. degree in a relevant field.
• 1–2 years of experience in muscle biology or a related discipline.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in tissue culture, cell-based assays, flow cytometry, and histology, such as IHC and IF.
• Experience in mouse handling.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and experience with biological data collection and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, expand, and modulate cells in vitro.
• Generate engineered muscle tissue from primary or iPSC-derived progenitor cells.
• Optimize cellular assays and develop readouts for muscle function.
• Handle and care for mice, including performing blood and tissue sample collection procedures.
• Process tissue samples for molecular and histological assessments.
• Collaborate closely with teams across the organization.
• Analyze data using biological and statistical software such as ImageJ, FlowJo, Excel, and Prism.
