The Escoubas Laboratory, within the Center of Excellence in Neuro-Oncology Sciences (CENOS) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our growing research team. CENOS fosters a highly collaborative and innovative research environment dedicated to advancing discoveries that improve outcomes for children with brain tumors. The Escoubas Lab investigates bidirectional communication between neurons and microglia through nucleic acid sensing pathways, with implications for neurodevelopment, neurological disease, and pediatric brain tumors. This position is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in experimental neuroscience, immunology, or neuroimmunology, and hands-on experience with brain tumor models, histology, and imaging techniques. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in in vivo experimental methods, including stereotaxic and intracerebroventricular (ICV) injections, transcardial perfusion, tissue collection and processing, immunofluorescence staining, and confocal microscopy. Experience with primary neural cell culture (microglia, neurons, and astrocytes) and preclinical research resources is highly desirable. The individual selected for this role will be expected to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment, drive projects toward publication, and contribute to the establishment and optimization of laboratory protocols as the lab continues to expand.
