About The Position

At Merida Biosciences, we are pioneering true precision medicines for antibody-driven diseases. We specifically target pathogenic antibodies and their cellular sources with bespoke Fc biotherapeutics engineered to selectively and completely eliminate the root causes of autoimmune and allergic diseases, and to achieve deep, durable responses while preserving essential immunity. The Associate Scientist is a skilled lab-based in vitro biologist with an immunology background who is driven to contribute to a rigorous scientific environment and is a consummate team player. The Associate Scientist will be an integral member of a diverse drug discovery team, with ample opportunity to progress their career development in drug discovery as we launch and grow as a company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Biology, Biotechnology, or related field, plus 5 years of experience as a biologist with an immunology background. Alternatively, will accept Master’s degree or equivalent in Biology, Biotechnology, or related field, plus 3 years of experience as a biologist with an immunology background.
  • 3 years of experience culturing and assaying human or mouse immune cells and cell lines using standard cell biology and molecular techniques (flow cytometry, ELISAs, PCR).
  • Ability to work within a dynamic, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Helping to drive multiple autoimmune programs to Development Candidate and IND
  • Designing and executing in vitro experiments to support preclinical drug discovery including disease modeling, toxicology and validation to deeply characterize our molecules
  • Independently developing and executing quantitative assays (ELISAs, cell proliferation assays, etc.) to support compound progression
  • Interpreting, summarizing and presenting research findings in internal scientific meetings as part of the company’s collaborative learning culture
  • Actively participating in and partnering with multidisciplinary drug discovery teams and CROs
