About The Position

Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development, Global Animal Science & Welfare in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking a talented, experienced individual to provide biological sample processing support at the Associate Scientist level. Zoetis is a global animal health company dedicated to supporting customers and their businesses. Zoetis discovers, develops, and manufactures a diverse portfolio of animal health medicines, biopharmaceuticals and vaccines designed to meet the real-world needs of veterinarians and the livestock farmers and companion animal owners they support. We are currently seeking to fill new positions to support our growing research portfolio.

Requirements

  • B.S. (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field) with 1-6+ years of experience or M.S (Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field) with 0 – 6+ years of experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize work and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and work collaboratively with colleagues representing a broad cross-section of the drug research and development pipeline.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Using laboratory automation and informatics systems in support of sample receipt, processing, and inventory management as well as study supply provisioning required to meet research objectives.
  • Processing and registering biological samples.
  • Working collaboratively and being flexible and adaptable in working across many scientific areas simultaneously, with rapidly changing projects and situations.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training for new and existing laboratory personnel on all relevant lab activities, new equipment, and evolving processes, providing retraining as required to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
  • Applying continuous improvement approaches to analyze and suggest improvements for sample logistic processes.
  • Following basic laboratory safety procedures and managing compliance with corporate standards.
  • Operating in a highly matrixed environment and conveying scientific and technical information to a diverse audience, including management, both within and outside the R&D group.
  • Preparing, distributing, and tracking biological samples.
